Crispy Wave Fern is a compact bird’s nest fern with bright green, heavily rippled fronds. It prefers consistent moisture and humidity but should never sit in saturated soil.

Light

Provide medium to bright indirect light. Avoid strong direct sunlight, which can yellow or scorch the fronds.

An east or north facing window is usually a good location.

Water

Keep the soil lightly and consistently moist. Water when the surface begins to feel slightly dry.

Apply water directly to the soil around the plant. Avoid pouring water into the center crown because trapped moisture can cause crown rot.

Humidity

High humidity is preferred. Use a humidifier or place the plant in a naturally humid room with good indirect light.

Avoid frequent misting if the foliage remains wet for long periods.

Temperature

Keep between approximately 60 and 80°F. Protect the plant from cold drafts, heating vents, and temperatures below approximately 55°F.

Soil and Repotting

Use a rich, porous fern mix that retains some moisture while draining freely. The container must have a drainage hole.

Repot when the roots fill the container, usually every one or two years.

Fertilizer

Feed every four to six weeks during spring and summer using a balanced houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength.

Avoid getting fertilizer directly into the plant’s crown.

Common Problems

Brown edges usually indicate dry soil, low humidity, excessive fertilizer, or mineral buildup.

Yellow fronds may indicate excessive sunlight or overwatering.

A soft or dark center may indicate crown rot.

Watch for scale, mealybugs, and spider mites.

Pet Safety

Crispy Wave Ferns are considered pet friendly. Pets should still be discouraged from chewing the foliage.
